I decided to make cookies for our Clinton Days Movie in the Park.......Wednesday night. They had to be FUN cookies and BIG. What's a girl to do but to make these yummy M & M Oatmeal Cookies :)

M & M Oatmeal Cookies

1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 1/2 cups M&M's

Sift flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Set aside. Combine shortening, sugar, brown sugar until well combined. Gradually add eggs one by one. Add vanilla. Gradually stir in oatmeal and M & M's.

Drop a huge amount of dough on ungreased baking pan. I used a baking stone and could fit about  6 cookies on a stone. You could also decrease the cooking time and drop by rounded teaspoons :)

Bake 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

Yep, these cookies are HUGE! (my husband called me a NERD for snapping this photo).

Jake was excited to see Alvin and the Chipmunks.....the squeakquel at Clinton Days, Movie in the Park. Probably not as excited as Dan.....but almost :) *wink*.

 

Nothing better than watching a movie under the stars. We actually saw a shooting star.....sigh.

We brought along some goodies to eat and of course our cookies for dessert.

I've been friends with Becky (Bill) since the 7th grade. I love her to pieces and I'm so glad that we have stayed good friends :)

Becky makes these darling stuffie birds out of denim, aren't they the sweetest? Thanks Bill, I love them!

I found this easy kid friendly recipe in the Taste of Home fun food magazine. 

Here is my version of these tasty snacks.

 

Pizza Burger Mini's

1 1/2 pounds ground turkey 
1/4 cup chopped onions
1 15 oz. can pizza sauce
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1 TB sugar
1/2 tsp. dried italian seasoning
6 hamburger buns, split and toasted
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

In large skillet brown turkey burger, onion and fresh mushrooms. Stir in pizza sauce, sugar and seasoning. Simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Meanwhile, toast buns lightly in toaster (this keeps them from getting soggy).

Place buns on ungreased baking sheet, topping with meat mixture and cheese. Broil for 1 to 2 minutes or until cheese melts. Serve :)

 

I know I've made something worth keeping when Jake eats :)

Hello!

It's been a really fun weekend......just trying to relax and enjoy Summertime.

Jake's been playing in the sand, slip and sliding and I've been catching up on magazines and making some cute little FUN magnets.

We had a great time in Bear Lake. We didn't stay too long, just for the day. I think we'll go back for Raspberry Days in August. I would really like to bring home some Bear Lake raspberries for jam making and they have a craft fair.....I'm so there with that one :)

 

OK, so now I'm craving raspberries.........see you soon!
