Hello,
Here's another sweet recipe for Valentine's Day.
I used my Soft Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe , left out the chocolate chips and rolled the dough out. I wasn't sure if it was going to work but I was so happy it did :) Hooray! I also spotted the cream cheese sugar cookie frosting on the recipe blog Mel's Kitchen Cafe that worked perfect for these cookies.
Chocolate Heart Cream Cookies
2 cups flour
2/3 cup cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup butter, softened
2 eggs, room temperature
2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Sift together flour, cocoa, salt and soda. Set aside.
In mixing bowl, combine sugar and butter. Beat until fluffy. Gradually add eggs and vanilla. Mix until just combined. Gradually add flour mixture until combined.
Roll on cocoa covered surface about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out with cookie cutters. Place on greased cookie sheet or baking stone. Bake 350 degrees for 8-12 minutes. Cookies will start cracking and hold their shape when they are done. Do not overbake.
Place on wire rack to cool completely. Turn half of your hearts upside down and using a spoon, place cream on each cookie. Top with other half of hearts, right side up. Push down slightly. Sprinkle lightly with additional powdered sugar.
Store in refrigerator.
Cookie Cream Filling
1 8 ounce block cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
