I love Valentine's Day, guess all girls do :)
These are my Favorite Sugar Cookies......just dreamy.
Valentine Sugar Cookies
2 cups sifted powdered sugar
1 cup butter
½ cup sour cream
1 egg
2 tsp. vanilla
½ tsp. mace
¼ cup honey
3 ½ cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
Beat sugar, butter and sour cream in large mixing bowl. Add vanilla, mace, egg and honey.
Mix dry ingredients together in separate bowl. Gradually add dry ingredients to butter mixture. Refrigerate overnight.
Roll dough on floured surface. Roll out 1/4 to 1/8 inch thick. Cut in shapes and place on greased cookie sheet or stone.
Bake 350 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes or until edges are just the lightest of golden brown. Do not overbake. Transfer to wire rack to cool. Frost and sprinkle with red hots, conversation hearts or lots of Valentine sprinkles.
Store in airtight container. They are even better the next day!
Delightful Frosting
1 cup butter, softened
¼ cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 pound bag powdered sugar
food coloring of choice
Sprinkles!
Combine butter and vanilla until smooth. Gradually add powdered sugar and milk, alternating. Whip until creamy, add food coloring. Frost cookies and add sprinkles :)
