I'll have to admit, I was in a gardening any type of landscaping, weed pulling rut. Then we decided to pull the jungle of ivy out and add to our river rock bed by the front walk.
I'm completely and totally in LOVE and have the gardening bug once again. Since the photos, we've added more dirt and rocks. I've had this old cart forever and it's falling apart but I don't care. I love that it's falling apart. My mom would tell me to throw this away! ha! I have this old ratty blanket that I use just about everyday, Dan and my mom want to steal it away and dump it :) NO way.
So back to the garden.......we used pea gravel and some bigger river rocks around the cart to make it look like it was an extension of the original bed. It's nice to see my sun dial again! It's been buried in ivy for a few years.
The biggest WOW moment was planting a few perennials. It's pretty shady in this area, but I was still worried about the heat. You just don't plant these type of things the end of July. I'm a rebel I tell ya. It's been just about a week, and they are doing great :) I'll add more flowers in the Spring :)
Sometimes the things you don't plan turn out to be the best. I love how our baby pumpkins are climbing up the old picket fence by the garden gate. Even though we didn't plant these lovers, they are volunteers, I wouldn't change a thing. In fact, I would love to plant them there each and every year.
Everything is doing great and I'm very excited to eat my first tomato---but that will be awhile. We planted our garden a few weeks late because of our Seattle trip---but it's all good.
Hope you have a great weekend!
