Book Nook

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not much of a book worm, unless you can count decorating books and cook books. Do they count?

Of course!

We hit the library at least twice a month, Jake absolutely loves library day and is still obsessed with  "The Black Lagoon Books". His teacher even says, one day he will marry "Mrs. Green", because he talks about her so much.

We have IKEA shelving downstairs, making a cute little book nook. Jake is always tucked behind the big comfy chair looking through books.

Some of the books shown are library books, like Domino and the Ina cook books. I have lots of Ina cookbooks but I'm testing these out to see if they should go with my collection. The Domino book is a favorite of mine, I was so sad that the magazine was discontinued :( That was a sad day, almost as sad as Country Home. I really need to buy the Domino book because I have checked it out countless times.

Dan saved his monster make-up books from when he was a kid. He is pretty darn proud of when he dressed like a Werewolf :)

I organized our book shelves a few weeks ago. I'll have to take a few photos of our downstairs space. It's finally getting that "cozy feel".

To our book shelves, I added photos, art work and just lots of special memory pieces.

I'm still making a Shutterfly and Blurb book here and there. Jake loves looking through them.

find and seek

Jake has been totally crazy over the "Can You See What I See?" book series.

He loves Find and Seek, adventures and treasure hunting.

So I had this bright idea (Dan thinking not so bright) that Saturday morning we would use his train table to make our own Find and Seek out of all of his JUnKy TreaSureS.

Well, I had to fill orders and was terribly busy, so Dan took over (hahahahaha).

Wow, I was so impressed! I should have taken more pictures. Those two have quite the imagination :)

I guess I'm sorta glad I let Jake keep some of his JuNk.

I would never be the type of girl to have a JunK DraWer of any kind..... *wink*.

 

The Wedding Wall.......

 

I keep looking at this corner of our home and think to myself....finally.

Since we moved in our home December 2006, I had dreams of a wedding wall. I'm a hopeless romantic and love looking at wedding photos.

I love so many things about them.....that they are all in black and white, the hair styles, the church, my Aunt Dori's home, the dresses, the cake, the dancing, the looks on their faces. The photos seem to show a simpler time.

It was really hard choosing just one wedding photo for each of our parents. These are the two photos that won out.

Our parents have been married such a long time. This little wedding wall is a constant reminder for me not to take anything for granted and to enjoy each and everyday. I love our sweet life and our marriage.

 

As you know, I lost my dad this year. I feel just terrible that he didn't get to see "The Wedding Wall", or maybe he can see it and he's smiling down on us.........I sure hope so.

 

My wedding shoes are on the bottom shelf, Mardi Gras type masks on the second shelf with a photo of us wearing them. We married, December 30, 2000. The year Vegas was celebrating the Millennium Year, lots of craziness in Vegas. It was really something to see.....people everywhere in the streets, fireworks, laughing, screaming......so much celebrating.

The square wooden box holds our dried wedding flowers. Inside the doors, our wedding book, scrapbook from friends with well wishes and my wedding garter.

My parents gave all us kids the wedding couple sculpture for our anniversary.

I'm not sure if we have a room in the house that does not sport a heart  :) Had to make a stop at my sweet friend Melissa's house for this Valentine....and a few other goodies. The Diva of paper art frames and such.

Looks like we were busy in Jake's kitchen today.....mini cherry cheesecakes....Yes Please!

I'm putting the finishing touches on my little powder room......one of my favorite rooms in the house. After three years it's finally starting to feel a little magical :)

Heart soaps of pink and chocolate......even smells of chocolate. YUM!

My husband wants to know what's up with the micro creations lately? Hmmmm....not sure. Just little bits of love I guess :)
