So, you know how I was saying a few weeks ago that our favorite trail is just down the street.
Well, we found something new.
Funny thing---it was always here, we just never noticed. It's nice sometimes to discover something new that's just really in your own backyard.
I drive this route to work each week. I just never noticed they made the bike trails-walking paths stretch so far and they are so nice! It's amazing what's happened over the last 10 years.
There is nothing like riding so close to the river, the sounds are amazing. So many birds too---such a great place to ride. I think my favorite part is the old buildings---some restored, most falling part. Just so much history. I love it.
When we were first married, we would frequent the Ogden River Parkway trail quite often. We just can't believe how much work they have done. A once 5 mile walk to the trail, which was there and back is now 11 miles one way.
Life is kinda cool like that.
Yesterday a country girl at heart---today, just a city girl :)
This year I decided to tag along with Dan and Jake to Discovery Night. The teachers help their students come up with amazing creative ideas. Jake's class was in charge of everything and anything ROCKS. Jake loves rocks---come to think of it, so does his brother Aaron.
We were having a yard sale, Aaron was probably a few years older than Jake at the time. He grabbed a bag of rocks and decided he was going to sell these for 50 cents a rock. Keep in mind, these were just your average everyday rocks, that he just grabbed from the street. To this day, Dan will tease Aaron about this. Fifty Cents a Rock! Anytime the topic of money comes up.
You know---I'm pretty sure he made a few bucks that day. I guess the joke was on us :)
In other exciting news---Jake lost Tooth #5. Word has it a gal in the school office will help pull those ready to be out teeth. We didn't think much of it when Jake told us about her. Sure enough one day last week, she did just that. Jake came home with his tooth in a shiny plastic tooth capsule, with a necklace made of floss! I'm pretty sure you can tell by the photo that Jake knew he was going to come into some cash very soon.
Probably the most exciting thing of the week had to be the Lego Movie for Jake. Jake loves Legos, especially Star Wars Legos. He was glued to that screen---it was the cutest thing to watch. The movie was cute too.
We had a great long weekend. It's back to work tomorrow and a storm in the forecast.
That's just fine with me---I like a little variety with our weather. February is usually very cold here and not so much fun for a walk or bike ride. Monday was the perfect day for Adventures. That's what I like to call them anyway. A sunny day in the 50's----
We jumped on the bike trail, just a few minutes from our house and off we went. So many things along the way, it never gets old to me. We always try to find new trails, but we always end up back on this one.
Lots of horse friends and birds along the way.
My mom is funny you know. I'm in love with the old barn in my photos above. Really, with anything farm-like that's old. My mom, well---not so much.
I can't say that I blame her. She grew up on a farm, slept in the living room with two sisters and they had an outhouse. Wood floors, wood burning stoves, old barns, anything like that---really isn't for her. Been there done that she says---but for me---I think it's beautiful :) But I get it---I really do.

Hope you had an amazing weekend! I have a recipe or two this week.
