Jake lost his first tooth. A huge deal in this house, I must say.
He's been waiting patiently for at least a year. Funny thing is, he went to the dentist just last week. No wiggly tooth in sight. Then in school all last week it was "dental health week". The kids made molds of their teeth with marshmallows and paper plates. Completely hysterical! I can't begin to tell you how much I adore this piece of artwork :)
OK, back to the tooth story. We were having soup and breadsticks. Jake was drinking a bottle rootbeer, which we rarely ever buy. I did notice all day his tooth looked a little crooked but didn't think much of it. Well, he bumped his tooth on the bottle....said "ouch". I looked over and there he was.....one tooth missing.
Poor little guy accidentally swallowed his first tooth.
I told him it didn't matter much because the "fairy" is full of magic and we were quite certain she'd pull through.
(i admit, I had a lump in my throat, tears starting. My baby is growing up).
In the morning....a few shiny coins on his dresser did appear.
She may or may not have sprinkled purple glitter on the coins ----at least that's what I heard.
I've been itching to pull out my Smashing Book and get to work. I've had a hard time getting inspired---so I dolled it up a bit and now I'm in laaaa-LOVE. In this particular Smash Book, it's just a lot of odds and ends of things I love. Special love notes from Dan, movie ticket stubs, thank you notes from wonderful friends, photos, tags......just the things that make you happy.
Truthfully, I think I'm ready to get back in the "swing" of things. Sometimes you just need things to go back to routine, especially in these cold winter months. No heat wave for us today---it's around 8 degrees right now.
We had great food, great times and now it's time to break out the "Shred" dvd again. Oh, how I love to hate that work out.
Another thing that has kept me very busy and doing a few girl screams, is Project Life.
I LOVE scrapbooking, photography, journaling......so I'm all over this.
I'll post weekly or monthly pages from my Project Life for 2013.....I've included some of last years too.
Last but not least......Our little Maggie celebrated her 9th doggie birthday on January 1st, she's our New Year's Girl :)
Happy Birthday Maggie Mae! (ps....the photo of Maggie cracks us up---she looks like a stuffed animal!) You think?!
Seriously, not in these clothes......although maybe we should have :)
This year we decided to dress like "Movie Stars".
I'm guessing we were the "Movie Stars" that haven't really made it into show biz YET.
and that probably never will.
We made "Shirley Temple" drinks and had an extremely WILD night watching Dick Clark's New Years Rock'in Eve.
and just in case you weren't sure how to make these amazing easy drinks....here's the recipe.
Sprite Ice ( I used snow cone ice) Grenadine syrup Marachino cherries
Fill glass with ice, pour sprite almost to the top and slowly drizzle with syrup.
Top with a cherry and celebrate!
When the clock struck midnight, we watched fireworks from the deck (until we almost froze to death, which was about 5 seconds), blew our noise makers as loud as we could and welcomed the New Year 2013.
