find something beautiful everyday........

As soon as we got back from Seattle, we started planning summertime adventures. Last week was science day....aka bug day. We found a Huge-O magnifying glass, with tweezers (yuck) and a capsule to store bugs at the dollar store.

I'm the kind of girl that saves all kinds of things, from spiders, to bugs and the occasional moth that gets trapped in the house. We decided the tweezers wouldn't be so nice, but we found an awesome fly, a red ant, a gross centipede, a couple of bees and some tiny green guy. Science day was a huge success. We just looked and snapped a few photos, I think we were both grossed out by anything other than your average potato bug.

The pink mini roses by the front walk are in full bloom. They are just the sweetest things.

I've been knitting more hats and resting. Seems I've caught a little bug and feeling a bit under the weather.

Must have been "bug day".

All I can figure.

Journaling is good for the soul. 

I don't stick with a particular year for one book, when I'm journaling. If I have a special picture or a great memory, that goes in the book. If I need to vent or feel incredibly happy---that goes in.

Sometimes it will be a favorite recipe, an old photo, or just how I'm feeling that day.  Today, it was taking photos of hats and gnomes. It's going to feel great to give these to lots of special people in the Fall.

Journaling, knitting and gardening always make me feel better.

These are probably my favorite Weeks EVER. Weeks 15 and 16. So much color---I love it. I'm finding my style---doing what I LOVE.

Pretty it up

Last Friday, we had our monthly Crafty Girls Nite.

Linda had the cutest craft kits for us! Paper Art Memo Clip Boards. I LOVE the ribbons at the top---she found the idea on Pinterest. So cute, I want to keep making them :)

To make: Purchase clip boards, they are around $2.00 for this particular kind. You want the ones with the metal at the top, that's where your pretty ribbon will go.

Make a template with your pretty paper and embellish away, using Mod Podge and a foam brush. When you have everything just the way you want, put a thin layer of Mod Podge over top. Let dry and embellish with ribbons to match, using a double knot. One thing that helped me, was to lightly sand around the clip board before you seal everything. It just evens up the edges, and gives it a vintage feel.

I've been doing a lot of journaling in my SMASH books this week. I will admit, I was having sort of brain block with my books. Then all of a sudden, it just started clicking. I already write in my Franklin, do Project Life weekly, Jake's scrapbook and my blogging. I was thinking, this will seem like the same old stories and things.....then it came to me.

It's my journal. My feelings, good days and bad. Also, I over print too many photos sometimes for Project Life, so it's fun to have the extras. It's really quite addicting now, and I can't stop picking it up every hour or so and jotting a few things down.

Therapy.

Still loving Project Life. I really look forward to it each weekend. I've finally found what is working for me and what is not.

I'm not printing the photos from home anymore, that was getting crazy expensive. I've been using Walmart, Shutterfly and sometimes Snapfish. It just depends what type of coupon they are offering.

I'm printing my journaling cards at home for now. I have been using digital elements with cards and brushes from Jessica Sprague and Ali Edwards. Sometimes I'll even make my Week card with Martha Stewart's Cards Studio App.

I love hand journaling some and using Photoshop too. My recipes will probably all be hand written and I think it looks much nicer in my case to use Photoshop, with the brushes for my journaling cards.

It's all good though, no rules for me on this.
