room by room

I'm still wondering how and why I'm enjoying this spring cleaning-redecorating project of ours.

When we moved in over five years ago, it was in such a rush. Our home wasn't finished, our contractor bailed on us and we were stuck with so many things to clean, repair and build. 

Our yard was so much more than we could handle. I never thought putting a yard in would be so much work and back breaking! So here we are, our lives a little calmer and we are slowly but surely making some of the changes, repairs and redecorating that I have been wishing for.

I'm working on the spare bedroom next.....it was Jake's playroom, so he's not too pleased with me. You just never know when you'll need a guest room.

Jake's Nook

We are still spring cleaning one room at a time.

Last weekend.....Jake's room.

I moved the bookcase out of his closet and his dresser in the closet. It adds so much more space and since Jake is becoming quite the bookworm, I thought it would work great.

We cleaned walls, baseboards, curtains, windows, organized toys, books and Jake got a new ceiling fan to keep cool.

I love Jake's little reading nook.

Next up......the guestroom.

 

Scrappy art stuff.......

It's my day off so when Jake got on the bus I ran downstairs to my craft room. We've been so busy spring cleaning and with work that I haven't had much time to get crafty.

I've been slowly adding different paper pockets to my Franklin Planner---sewing and smashing them up. I think I could do this all day! It's such a pretty place to keep your stuff.

 

Well, back to work.....I'm working on these gals for Spring. She's finished but her sisters still need their hair done........a girl's life.

Ironing and the mason jar

I was really excited that this ironing board cover fit my old ironing board. I haven't been able to find a cover that I've really liked for years. This one is adorable and from IKEA.....only $4.99. Deal!

Proof.... that I'm actually ironing my husbands work shirts. This is huge because I don't iron much.

I must have broke my rule to buy him only permanent press fabrics.

Good grief, I'm really not this bored today. I actually ironed fabric napkins. I grew up in a house where my mom and aunt ironed Everything. I first learned to iron pillow cases and graduated to my Dad's work shirts.  

My mom and Aunt Ruth could actually iron and fold a set of sheets to go back in the package like they were new. Things like this amaze me......I wind it up in a ball and throw it in the towel closet. Well actually, because it usually falls out and hits me on the head. That's when I wind it up in a ball and toss it real hard and hope I can close the door in time. True story.

Our little Main bath all finished and with a new shower curtain and pretty pink flowers.

Filling up as many mason jars as I can with sand, flowers and lace.

So pretty :)

We finished two more rooms today. Hooray!

 

Organizing.......

Good Morning :)

Well, probably afternoon or evening for some but since I work swing shift my mornings are kinda late.

Jake slept until 9:30---I'm in shock.

I grabbed a few of my old magazines and started pulling out the pages I want to keep. Lots of recipes, porch decorating ideas, boys room, entry way....etc. Even though some of these were Fall and Summer magazines, I didn't care. Jake is excited to recycle my old magazines.....he loves recycling and keeps me on top of things.

I slipped everything in plastics and used a metal ring. As my plastic binder gets chunky, I'll start tabbing categories and make a cute paper art binder. Dan got me "The Creative Station Sticker and Magnet maker for my birthday and I used my birthday $$ to get "The Cinch", book binder. Girl Scream.....

I'm pretty sure the Craft Monster in me will be coming out soon. So excited to try these out.
