I've been craving this recipe for over 10 years. Dan is not a fan of the dorito or sour cream, so I never make it anymore.
I decided I'll be creative and make one side for me and one side for him :)
1 package crescent rolls
1 lb. ground beef or turkey burger
1/2 cup onion, diced
1/8 tsp. salt, optional
1/8 tsp. pepper,optional
1 package taco seasoning mix
1 small bag Doritos
1 package colby/jack cheese, shredded
1 cup tomato sauce
1 pint sour cream
salsa, lettuce and sour cream if desired
Press crescent dough into sprayed 9x13 baking dish to form crust. Bake as directed on package until light golden brown.
Meanwhile, brown burger with onion, salt and pepper until no longer pink. Drain fat. Add taco seasoning and tomato sauce. Bring to boil and reduce to heat to simmer for 5 minutes.
Top crescent dough with whole or crushed doritos until covered. Next top with meat mixture, 1/2 cup cheese, sour cream and finish with more doritos.
Bake in a 350 degree oven just until hot and bubbly.
Top with additional cheese, lettuce, salsa, tomatoes and sour cream if desired.
Oh and ps....just remember yours will look a little bit different, unless you have "a not a fan of the Dorito and sour cream medley" :)
