This is a great Apple Pie recipe that puts a different spin on the Ole Apple Pie.
I love to use the pie crust recipe over at Pioneer Woman, makes the BEST pie crust.
pie crust homemade or store bought prepared and chilled.
Topping
3 TB unsalted butter, softened
1/4 plus 2 TB sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 TB flour
Filling
1 1/3 cups sour cream
2/3 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 large eggs
3 TB flour
5 large Granny Smith apples
Roll out dough to fit in a 9" or 6 cup capacity pie plate. Chill
Mix butter, sugar, cinnamon and flour until well combined. Cover and refrigerate while you make the filling.
Peel, core and slice your apples into small pieces.
Combine sour cream, sugar, salt, vanilla and flour. Gradually add eggs until well combined. Stir in apples.
Spoon filling in chilled pie plate and sprinkle with topping.
Bake on middle oven rack 350 degrees for 1 1/4 hours or until golden and apples are tender.
Cool completely and serve with vanilla ice cream and whipped topping if desired.
