We have been working in the yard all weekend and we I started talking about our soon to be campfire pit. I'm very excited about using our portable fire pit and burying it in the ground a bit. It's really pretty and has stone work around it. Let's see, then we'll add some seating.....made of railroad ties and some large boulders. This should make for a lovely place to find stars and roast a few marshmallows. If I were my husband, I'd hide all of my gardening magazines so I would stop coming up with all of these adventures :)
Anyway, this made me think of S'more Bars and if you like chocolate, you're in for a treat!
S'more Bars
5 TB. butter
6 cups miniature marshmallows
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1 1/2 cups milk chocolate morsels
8 cups golden grahams cereal
1 tsp. pure vanilla
Melt butter, 5 cups marshmallows, corn syrup and milk chocolate in large pot. Stir constantly until well blended and melted. Remove from heat, add vanilla. Stir in cereal until combined. Add remaining 1 cup marshmallows. Press in 9 x 13 buttered pan. Cool completely and cut in bars. Keep in covered container or wrap individually. Makes 24 bars.
I also wanted to share our Southwest Burgers with you. It's so hot outside, thought we'd grill. Hope you enjoy these---gives you a bit of a kick :)
Southwestern Burgers
1 1/2 lbs turkey burger or ground beef
3 tsp. chopped onions
3 tsp. diced green chilies
4 oz. can sliced mushrooms
Colby Jack Jalapeno cheese
Kaiser rolls
salsa
sliced onions
Combine burger, onions and green chilies. Shape in 8 thin patties. Divide mushrooms in the middle of 4 patties and top with two thin slices of cheese. Top with remaining patties. Pinch sides together. Grill for 14 minutes, only turning once. Serve on toasted Kaiser rolls topped with sliced onions and salsa.
We had corn and spicy hash browns with ours. Yummy good.....
The pumpkins and corn have a mind of their own......welcome to the jungle :) I've never grown corn before and I have to say I'm a little bit spooked. It was late one evening and I was by myself watering the garden, the wind makes the corn sound so creepy.....I could swear someone was walking by. Makes me want to watch Signs.....love that movie :) Just thought I'd share my creepy spooky corn story. I'd hate to see my reaction with a couple hundred acres of this stuff. I'm a girl, what can I say. Oh and ps......my husband thinks this is hysterical.
