For years and years I have wanted to plan a Girl's Crafty Nite.
This is probably the craziest time of year to start planning these....but I think it was good for everyone to get out and have some girlfriend time.
We made Snow Globes out of old jars and decorated them with ornaments, ribbons, presents, pom poms, trinkets and lots of GLITTER.
They all turned out Incredibly CUTE!
We snacked on Oatmeal Pecan Cookies and Lime Sherbet Frosties......and laughed and laughed.
I can't wait for December Crafty Girl's Nite!!
How to Make a Snow Globe
Jars with screw lids (hot fudge, olive, pizza and baby food jars--for example)
Hot glue gun
Distilled water
Glycerin (found in pharmacy section)
Scissors
Old ornaments made out of clay and resin work best
Miniature pine trees, etc.
GLITTER
Felt
Rick rack, lace, trim
Hot glue ornament and trinkets to the inside of your jar lid. If you are having trouble getting the glue to stick to your surface, just rough it up a little with sand paper.
Tip: Before gluing, it's always a good idea to make sure your jar lid will screw on, sometimes things are a little bigger than they look :)
Fill jar about 1/2 inch from top, add a few drops of Glycerin and your glitter. It's best to not use the fine glitter. The chunkier glitter works the best. Less is more when it comes to the glitter. You can always add more later. The Glycerin helps the glitter to fall slowly, to resemble SNOW.
Screw on lid securely. Shake jar to make sure you have the desired amount of glitter.
Embellish your jar lid with felt, rick rack, lace and pretty ribbon.
Jake absolutely LOVED this project, we tested it together a few days before the big night. Even Dan got in on the action :)
Jake and I put our Snow Globes in the kitchen window. I LOVE the way the light catches them. We chose not to hot glue the lids in place, just in case we want to add new water and more glitter.
Let it Snow....Let it Snow......
Let it SNOW :)
