Our chickens are eight weeks old! Time for a coop :)
We've been letting the girls explore around their new space all weekend.
We're still not sure how Maisey will react to the chickens so we keep her in while the gals take a look around. Let's just say I hope the "Herder" comes out in her and not the "Retriever". We'll always keep them separated until we know for sure.
I Love how the coop is turning out :) I can't stop smiling when I see it----
We were going to make the entire coop with pallets but then realized it would be a little too short or tall for our liking. Dan used two pallets on top of cinder blocks. Then he screwed plywood on top of the pallets. This will ensure the coop is predator proof on the bottom end. We also bought a piece of linoleum to put over the plywood for easy clean up.
We framed the coop with 2x4's and then screwed in wood siding. That's as far as we got the past couple of days.
Next up..... the front door, chicken door with ramp, chicken run and securing the coop with hardware cloth.
I've also been collecting a few swatches for just the right paint color. The exciting part!
Hope you had a Fabulous holiday weekend!
See you soon.......xoxo
