Just what we've been up to the last few months........

In March we got our baby chicks. Well, five chickens and a Turken to be exact. Jake is having the time of his life with these gals. I sure hope none of them turn out to be roosters. 

With the warm weather, it's been nice getting our yard and garden ready for planting.

I'm going to make a garden and flower journal in the next few weeks. Just one little book that will document what flowers I plant, where they are planted and how well they do in sunny or shady spots. I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep a chicken journal as well, my husband doesn't call me a nerd for nothing.

Back in the day

Since I can remember, I've always had a love for old photos.

I would comb through album after album , asking a lot of questions along the way. I wish I would have kept a journal way back then of everything my Dad told me. He shared so many great stories with me. I remember a lot of things, but I hope I'm not forgetting something really great. You know?

I didn't know my grandmothers, they were gone before I was born. I'll always, always wonder what that's like---to have a grandmother. Thank God I had Aunt Ruth. I'm pretty sure I got the best of both worlds-----an amazing aunt and definitely a grandmother to me. 

I've been gathering old family photos and scanning them to use in my scrapbooks. I made the photo collages with the Project Life App. So easy! I used the Cinnamon Edition in the photos above. 

I slipped them into a Simple Stories binder, using a variety of different pocket pages. I'm really excited to use the Simple Stories line, Legacy. I love hybrid scrapbooking, so this will give me some digital and physical elements to work with. This photo album is 6x8, which I think is the perfect size for these types of projects. Some pages will be the full 6x8 photo spread, and others I'll make the collages.

Sometimes, I wish I could just have one day to walk through the city where I grew up, back in the day. When it was still farm land, my grandparents cafe and people walking to catch the train to town.

Great Great Great!

Boy was it hard to go back to work on Monday. We had such a fun amazing week! 

Last week was my birthday,  so we did a lot of celebrating. We went to Applebee's for dinner and then home for cake and ice cream. I LOVE strawberry filled cake with whipped topping. Dan always finds me the perfect cake.

We hung out with my mom and sisters on Friday. My sister treated us all to shakes at Arctic Circle. Jake loves his Aunties.

On Saturday night, we ate at Rumbi after church and then headed to a college basketball game. Weber State Wild Cats---we WON! Weber State Weber State---Great Great Great. ( I can't get this cheer out of my head). I always forget how much fun it is to go to these games. Our credit union was giving out free tickets. We got there early and scored free t-shirts. Jake of course had waaaaay too much popcorn. 

Sunday, Aaron and Jess came over. Dan made his famous chicken dinner and I whipped up a really time consuming batch of Rice Krispy Treats.....ha!

At the end of each month, I look through all of my photos and make a quick Project Life layout with the app. It just gives me an idea what photos I need to print for the month and helps me along the way.

Leftover Turkey Pot Pie

A delicious recipe to use up all those leftovers.

Leftover Turkey Pot Pie

2 cups frozen peas and carrots

1 cup sliced celery

2/3 cup butter

2/3 cup chopped onion

2/3 cup flour

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. ground black pepper

1 tsp. basil

1 bay leaf

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1 3/4 cups turkey stock or chicken broth

1 1/3 cups milk

4 cups cooked turkey meat cut in bite size pieces

4 (9 inch) unbaked pie crusts

Cook peas and carrots according to package. Set aside.

Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat, cook onions and celery until tender about 5 minutes.

Stir in 2/3 cup of flour, salt, black pepper, basil, garlic powder, and bay leaf. Whisk in chicken broth and milk until mixture starts to thicken. Remove from heat. Stir in vegetables and turkey.

Divide filling between two pie crusts. Top with other two crusts, cutting to fit. Pinch and roll up sides. Cut three small slits in tops of pies.

Bake 425 degrees for 30 minutes or until crusts are golden brown.

I've been working on my recipe album using the Project Life App. When I get a good amount, I think I will use my Cinch to put them all together in a cute little book.

Recipes make me sooooo happy :)

Crazy fun times.........

Halloween was so much fun! I'm always sad to see it go but excited to clean up and decorate for Thanksgiving.

We spent most of the day cleaning and organizing our storage room. Putting all of the Halloween decorations away. I have to admit, even though I'll miss Halloween it feels really good to get organized and ready for the holidays :)

Just a few photos to share with you of our crazy-fun day. We dressed up as "The Village People". Such a great night :)
