We finished spring cleaning a few more rooms and now we are making our way to areas in the yard. We are far from finished inside but we had to switch it up a bit before it gets too hot.
We tell each other everyday that we are not giving up until everything is spring-cleaned and organized. It's been Amazing to see each room come to life. I highly recommend it for anyone-----anytime of the year. We do have a deadline though......first day of Summer.....we have to be finished.
We plan on playing A LOT this summer......Bear Lake ~ Park City ~ Pineview ~ Picnics ~ Parks ~ Hikes ~ Adventures ~ Lagoon. Maybe we will even sneak a trip to Montana (I love it there) and hopefully to California because I'm craving the beach.
Weeding a slippery slope is not fun. I'm training a few vines here and there and planting drought tolerant plants and bushes around. I've been gradually making a dry creek bed on the right side of this slope. Seems like I'm always fixing it when it rains too much or a certain over-size black and white dog thinks it's her walkway. I'll show you a few more photos soon because I think it's finally coming together and filling in.
Looks like this cherry blossom tree only has a few days left of blooms. I wish they would last all year. It has been so HOT here and windy---sometimes they blow off before we get a chance to enjoy them. Can you imagine it's been in the mid to high 80's all week? I am not ready for these temperatures. BLAK!
Let's take a break and have some Cherry Cake..........
This is another section of our yard that was on our Spring cleaning list. The fire pit. I keep calling it the sand pit, because I secretly want to put white sand in it but we can't afford that. So now Dan likes to call it the Sandlot.
We are adding more dirt and I wish sand but probably some wood chips. Dan used bricks from Home Depot and stacked them a couple rows high. We used an old patio fireplace and removed the legs and inserted the bowl.....instant fire pit. It has decorative stones too---I will show you more up-close photos in a few days.
We hope to add a few wood benches, some trees and lots of sticks for marshmallow roasting nights.
OK, now the sad part. Look at my poor-little-weedy fence falling down garden.
It was my pride and joy but then snakes arrived a few years ago. So I bolted and never really returned. Dan is pulling out the strawberry patch because one snake in particular thinks he lives there and I just can't take it. I know they are GREAT for gardens....but just not so great for my heart. This so proves that I'm a genuine city gal, just wishing I was a country gal. Wish I could say the same for Dan :)
So hopefully, when this little garden space is on the list this weekend, I'll have a new updated photos for you. Please no snakes.....please...please....go away. I know you are probably quite nice but really we just don't belong together.
This pea gravel will soon be replaced with a red brick patio and hopefully a few little steps. I think it will really add to our little patio pad and open things up. I plan to add trees, shrubs and flower pots to enclose the sides so it stays nice and private.
Although I'd rather eat cake, yard work is so rewarding when you finally see everything come together.
Oh, the cake is a Jello Cherry Poke Cake.....you can find the recipe here when I used lime :)
Have a GREAT day!
