Parfaits in a Jar

I made these pudding parfaits and strawberry shortcakes for Candace's Bridal Shower.

I usually make them in plastic clear cups but I thought these little chubby jars were adorable and easy to transport to the party.

Chocolate and Vanilla Pie Parfaits

Vanilla Pudding Banana Oreo Parfaits

Chocolate and Vanilla Pie Parfaits

3 ounce package instant chocolate pudding, prepared
3 ounce package instant vanilla pudding, prepared
1 1/4 cups graham cracker crumbs
3 TB sugar
1/3 cups melted butter
Cool Whip, thawed
milk chocolate candy bar
glass canning jars

In small bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar and butter. Press graham cracker crumbs in bottom of canning jars, using the back of a spoon. Bake 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Let cool completely.

When jars are cool, start layering your cute little chocolate pies.

Place a layer of vanilla pudding on top of graham cracker crumbs, top with chocolate and Cool Whip. Using a vegetable peeler, curl a few pieces of milk chocolate candy bar over Cool Whip.

Add jar lids and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.

Vanilla Pudding Banana Oreo Parfaits

2 packages (3 ounce) cook and serve vanilla pudding
2 3/4 cups half and half
20 oreo cookies, crushed (1 3/4 cups)
1/4 cup melted butter
Cool Whip, thawed
banana, sliced
additional OREO cookies for garnish
glass canning jars or cups

In small bowl, combine OREOS and butter. Stir until well combined. Press cookie crumbs in the bottom of glass canning jars. Refrigerate until ready to assemble.

Prepare vanilla pudding according to direction on box, using half half. Cool completely. 

Top cookie crumbs with a layer of pudding, a sprinkle of cookie crumbs, a few slices of banana, more pudding, top with Cool Whip and more cookie crumbs. Add jar lids and refrigerate for at least 3 hours.

Strawberry Shortcake Parfaits

2 cups strawberries, hulled and sliced
3 TB sugar
1 package shortcake rounds
Cool Whip, thawed
milk chocolate candy bar
glass canning jars

In small bowl combine strawberries. Add sugar and stir until combined. Let sit for 15 minutes.

Place a shortcake round in bottom of jar, top with strawberries, Cool Whip and chocolate curls. Add canning jar lids and refrigerate at least 3 hours.

 

Strawberries and Cream Trifle Dessert

I made this yummy Strawberry and Cream dessert. It was actually a huge mistake that it came out a trifle dessert and not a strawberry and cream cake.

Long story short.....the cake fell apart.

I'm not much of a cake baker. Sadly, it was even a box cake. :(

Sometimes mishaps are a good thing.....because this cake trifle is incredibly yummy!

Strawberries and Cream Trifle Dessert

store bought pound cake or white cake mix prepared
1 small jar strawberry jam, I used homemade
2 cups strawberries, hulled and sliced
8 ounce cream cheese, softened
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups heavy cream or whipping cream
8 ounce cool whip
additional strawberries for garnishment

Combine cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth and creamy. Gradually add whipping cream. Whip until light and fluffy. Keep refrigerated until ready to assemble.

Cut cake in cubes and throw half of your cake pieces in trifle bowl. Top with half cream cheese mixture and spread evenly over cake. Drizzle half of strawberry jam over cream cheese. Add one cup berries, placing them around the sides and middle of your trifle. Repeat with remaining cake cubes, cream cheese mixture, remaining jam and berries. Frost with cool whip and add additional berries for garnishment.

Keep refrigerated.

Grasshopper Cookie Parfaits

Wearing Purple?

The legend says St. Urho chased the grasshoppers out of ancient Finland, thus saving the grape crop and the jobs of Finnish vineyard workers. He did this by uttering the phrase: "Heinäsirkka, heinäsirkka, mene täältä hiiteen" (roughly translated: "Grasshopper, grasshopper, go to Hell!"). His feast is celebrated by wearing the colors Royal Purple and Nile Green. St. Urho is nearly always represented with grapes and grasshoppers as part of the picture.

We love celebrating St. Urho Day :) We wore our purple proud and ate Grasshopper Parfaits and purple grapes.......grasshopper....grasshopper......

Grasshopper Cookie Parfaits

1 box chocolate instant pudding, prepared
1 8 ounce cool whip
10-15 grasshopper cookies, crushed
green food coloring

Add a few drops of green food coloring to your coolwhip and stir.

Layer parfait cups with cookie crumbs, coolwhip, pudding and repeat layers ending with cookie crumbs.

Refrigerate for a few hours and serve to people wearing purple.

Strawberries and Vanilla Trifle Dessert

 

2 large boxes instant vanilla or banana pudding
1 pint strawberries, sliced
1 sliced banana, optional
lemon juice
1 8 ounce container Cool Whip, thawed
30 Nilla Wafers

Prepare pudding as directed on package. Keep refrigerated until ready to assemble your dessert.

Slice strawberries and bananas, spritzing with a little lemon juice.

Place half of your Nilla Wafers in bottom of trifle dessert bowl.

Top with half of your pudding mixture. Place a few berries along the edges of your bowl.

Top with half Cool Whip. Place remaining Nilla Wafers on top of Cool Whip.

Top with remaining pudding and repeat strawberries, adding some to the middle and around edges.

Frost with remaining Cool Whip and add a few strawberries on top for decoration.

If using banana pudding, add bananas with the pudding layers or as you wish :)

Chocolate Oreo Pudding Parfaits

 

1 box, any size chocolate instant pudding
milk, as directed on package
Oreo cookies, crushed
whip cream
green food coloring

Prepare pudding as directed, set aside for a few minutes to set.

In small bowl combine a few drops of food coloring to your whipped cream. Put in baggy and clip a tiny hole in corner or use your pastry bag for garnishing.

Crush cookies in zip lock baggy with a rolling pin, until nice and crumbly.

Add cookie crumbs to parfait dish, top with cream, chocolate pudding, cream and finish with more crushed cookies.

Add gold chocolate coins and Celebrate!
